The Edmonton and area Fetal Alcohol Network (EFAN) would like to invite you to become an EFAN Member.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is the leading cause of preventable birth defects and developmental disabilities in North America. The incidence rate is 9 individuals per 1000 births. Secondary disabilities such as juvenile delinquency, addictions, poverty, homelessness, unemployment and mental illness have transformed this invisible disability into one with very visible ramifications. It is only through the efforts to increase public awareness, enhance preventative measures, create effective interventions and support those impacted by FASD will the incidence rate begin to decline. FASD affects all races, genders and social backgrounds. Its indiscriminate nature suggests that all efforts to thwart this preventable disorder must be directed to the community at large.
If you decide that being a Network Member is a commitment you would like to make or would like more information, we would be delighted to hear from you.
