Call for FASD Stories!

Dear Network Coordinators:

Invitation to Contribute to a Book of Stories by Families and Individuals on FASD

The Provincial FASD Family Advisory Council is seeking your assistance in distributing, as widely as possible, the attached INVITATION to families and individuals with FASD to consider sharing their stories of success, possibilities and hope for possible inclusion in a book to be produced by the Council and AACL.  Karin Melberg Schwier, a well known Canadian author and editor, whose books on individuals with disabilities and their families have received wide acclaim, will be facilitating the production of this much needed book.  There are too few stories and publications that directly represent the positive voice of individuals with FASD and their families in the telling of their own stories which may inspire others to have renewed hope in their pursuit of a meaningful and inclusive life.

Individuals and families interested in having their story considered for this publication may either submit a brief description of their story (written, audio or video recording) as per  THESE CRITERIA or contact Karin as per the enclosed information who will be happy to interview them or assist in any other way in capturing their story.

From these initial submissions, we will draw selected stories that best represent the interests of individuals with FASD and their families  for further development and final inclusion in the book.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  The success of this endeavor is dependent on your willingness and efforts to distribute the invitation as widely as possible within the FASD community.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Sincerely
Provincial FASD Family Advisory Council

Bruce Uditsky
Co-chair
