Helping a Client Affected by FASD

Successful strategies for working with clients affected by FASD:

  1. Use simple, direct language
  2. Remind your client about meetings and court dates
  3. Give your client time to process information and remember to take breaks
  4. Repeat information from one consultation to the next
  5. Ask “what” they understand, not “if” they understood
  6. Access long term supports for conditional sentences
