About this learning opportunity
Facilitator Nathalie Brassard completed an intensive mentorship with Diane Malbin, author of Trying Differently Rather Than Harder, to become a certified facilitator of the Neurobehavioural Model.
The workshop will increase understanding of FASD as a brain-based condition and provide tools, skills, and support for the development of accommodations that build on the strengths and potential of children, youth, and adults with FASD. This approach is an emerging best practice developed by Diane Malbin and supported by research on the brain.
FASCETS is a non-profit organization that celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017.
Our mission is: To increase understanding of people from a neurobehavioral perspective.
FASCETS is an acronym for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Consultation, Education, and Training Services. The application of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model is not limited to alcohol-related symptoms of underlying brain dysfunction, as it is applicable to understanding and developing accommodations for any other brain-based conditions such as autism, ADHD, TBI, and others.
We offer workshops and consultation on the Neurobehavioral Model to parents, caregivers, support workers educators and other professionals, to support the development and implementation of accommodations that recognize who the person is and how their brain functions (or functions differently), and to set the conditions for success. We also develop and sell materials about FASD and the Neurobehavioral Model
About the facilitator(s)
Nathalie Brassard is an FASD consultant and facilitator with FASCETS Canada West, a consulting business dedicated to disseminating information, increasing understanding, and supporting application of the Neurobehavioural approach in Western Canada, Quebec and beyond.
Nathalie has completed an intensive mentorship with Diane Malbin, receiving a Mastery Trainer Certificate in the delivery of the Neurobehavioural Model. She delivers workshops on the brain-based approach throughout North America.
She is also a program director for FASCETS US, responsible for reviewing training and handout materials, developing new modules related to the field of FASD as well as providing training and consultation. Nathalie is certified to train and mentor new facilitators of the Neurobehavioral model.
Her professional background is in human nutrition and dietetics, and for over 20 years, she has worked with at-risk women and families during pregnancy and the early years, including supporting women with addiction issues and women and families living with FASD. For the past 10 years, Nathalie has worked intensively in Northern British Columbia, delivering FASD workshops, providing support and consultation services based on the Neurobehavioural Model to families, service providers and schools.
