CanFASD: 2023 FASD awareness resources now available for download!

FASD Awareness Month toolkit is now available for download!

At CanFASD we’re working on developing a consistent message for FASD awareness and FASD prevention across Canada. We want to make sure this message is non-stigmatizing and strengths-based and aligns with the best practices outlined in research.

The Theme

The theme for this FASD Awareness Month is Uniting our Strengths: Finding Solutions Together.

We have, and continue to see, real progress and change for FASD and FASD prevention in Canada. Many organizations and advocates have created innovative solutions to how they create and deliver services and supports. This outside-the-box thinking is one of our community’s biggest strengths.

During FASD Month, let’s talk about these innovations and services. Show how you are making a difference. When we share effective solutions, it shows problems are solvable. Highlighting the innovative and strengths-based solutions is one way we can support and raise awareness around FASD and FASD prevention.

Resource Package

Our package has:

The full campaign details
Our national plan & activities (including a list of landmarks in Canada that will be lit up red)
A list of FASD Events in Canada (and the opportunity to add yours)
Downloadable graphics
Sample social media posts
A template media release

The hope is that these resources will help reduce the effort you expend into planning and resource development. You can then re-invest this time and energy into unique activities that will build awareness within your regions and communities. You are more than welcome to share the package with other FASD advocates and organizations!

Landmark Light Up

To celebrate FASD Awareness Day, famous landmarks across the country will light up red on September 9th. So far, 25 monuments are on board, including places like BC Place, Montréal Tower, and the Peace Bridge! You can find a full list of landmarks here. The list will continue to be updated as we get closer to September.

FASD Awareness Events List

Throughout September, many community members and organizations host awareness events to bring attention to FASD. Are you or an organization you know hosting an event in Canada? Fill out this form and tell us what, when, and where. We will share it on our channels to help community members get involved. You can find the full list of events here.

We will be updating the information on our website as the campaign develops. Check out a recording of our most recent webinar on FASD Awareness Month to learn more!
