Independent Contractor: Project Manager Position Description

The project, including its development, will run from February 1, 2021 – January 31,
2026.

Position Summary

We’re hiring a self-motivated, independent contractor, a Project Manager, with
experience. The primary purpose of the Project Manager role is to lead, oversee,
and ensure the successful management and delivery of new 5-year project
intended to strengthen partnerships between school authorities and FASD
Networks.

The successful candidate will work directly with multiple stakeholders
and the FASD Service Networks, to ensure deliverables and outcomes are
achieved and fall within the applicable scope and budget of the project. The
Project Manager will coordinate the development and implementation of the
professional development delivery model for educators. We are looking for a

Project Manager Responsibilities

 Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant
stakeholders.
 Develop a comprehensive project plan to share with stakeholders.
 Sources, selects and on-boards project stakeholders and committee members
from various disciplines, clarifying roles and responsibilities and setting
tasks/deliverables.
 Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of
short- and long-term goals, meeting all project reporting requirements (quarterly
and annual).
 Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using
appropriate verification techniques.
 Establish, coordinate and maintain internal resources and contractors for the
flawless execution of the project.
 Ensure the project is delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
 Report to stakeholders as needed.
 Manage the relationship with all stakeholders.
 Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
 Proactively identify potential risks and issues before they occur so that proper
mitigating strategies can be developed.
 Organize and facilitate project stakeholder meetings as required.
 Organize and facilitate monthly community of practice meetings
 Perform other related duties as assigned
Project Manager Requirements
 Leadership skills
 Excellent stakeholder-facing and internal communication skills
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Demonstrated financial management, analysis, and reporting experience
 Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to work with minimal
supervision
 Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
 Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of study
 5+ years in project management and delivering large scale projects
 Knowledge of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and experience with the
education system and/or the FASD Service Networks in Alberta would be an
asset.

Location

The Independent Contract Project Manager position is based in Alberta, Canada.

Compensation

The contract runs April 2021 – January 31, 2022, with the potential of a yearly
(February 1 – January 31) extension until January 31, 2026. The total value of
the contract is $3333.33 per month (inclusive of all costs, taxes, and GST).
Compensation is based on the approximation that the project will require 15-20
hours of work per week. GST number must be provided on monthly invoices.
