Metis Nation of Alberta: FASD Caregiver Connect Nights

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We, at the Metis Nation of Alberta’s FASD Bridging Connections Team, are excited to announce our brand-new online support group for caregivers and parents who are raising Metis children / youth with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, called FASD CAREGIVER CONNECT NIGHTS. Please share this new resource throughout your network and with the parents / caregivers of Metis youth with FASD in your region.

It is our goal that our FASD Caregiver Connect Nights will be a safe space for parents and caregivers raising Metis youth with FASD to come together to have a conversation for support, camaraderie, inspiration, troubleshooting, and sharing what’s hard. Together we will connect with Metis Culture, learn practical strategies for raising children/youth with FASD, and participate in conversation with other caregivers who understand. In gathering together to learn and grown we can strengthen family cohesion, promote wellbeing, and improve outcomes for Metis Albertans with FASD.

Eligibility:

  1. Resident of Alberta
  2. Youth or Caregiver identify as Metis
  3. FASD Diagnosis (suspected or confirmed)
  4. Access to Zoom

Our FASD Caregiver Connect Nights are scheduled for the second Tuesday of every month (except for July and August). Some of the feature topics include Traditional Metis Values, Strategies for Summer, and Back to School Strategies.

Our first gathering will be on Tuesday, May 9th 6 – 7 pm on zoom
