Community Outreach Worker
Competition # 16-270
Job Description:
As a Community Worker in the McDaniel Youth Program, you work in a team setting (with 5 other Community Workers and a full-time supervisor) to provide mentoring and support to female youth (ages 14 to 19) affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Using your knowledge of FASD and ability to assess youth’s needs as well as your awareness of community programs, you work with female youth to link to the resources they need to be successful. Mentors assist youth to access tools, strategies and resources to enable a smoother transition into adulthood and adult services such as AISH and PDD.
Acting as an advocate for female youth affected by FASD, you work in collaboration with the school system, child welfare, parents and guardians, and employment agencies. Your belief in the ability for success drives you to support and guide your clients in achieving their goals.
