Video: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

The impact of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) on a person is lifelong and targeted prevention is required. The effects of FASD vary and may not be seen at birth. Some characteristics may become apparent in childhood, others later in life.

If you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, alcohol can harm your baby. Not drinking alcohol at all is your safest option. Everyone has a role to play in preventing FASD. Women need support from partners, families, friends and healthcare and social service providers to avoid alcohol when planning a pregnancy, and during pregnancy.
